Cast Your Vote On The New Amero Currency
What does the general public think of the new Amero Currency? There have not been many polls to reflect just where they stand. It's a little strange that there has been a complete lack of polling in the main stream media. The Amero itself is receiving more coverage, either denying it or debating it. One might almost think governments do not want people to know just what the numbers are, until they get a chance to market it and make it appealing to the people of the USA, Canada and Mexico.
One of the Amero's most appealing points will be convenience of a shared currency and the saving of currency exchange fees that would result. It is estimated that these transaction fees amount to a savings of $3 billion per year. A major stumbling block would be the fight over just who would control this currency as well as a loss of some economic control by each country. We might see some arbitrage opportunities with a Amero dollar, until prices move closer to parity between countries.
The citizens of the United States being the most patriotic in the world would be the most against a shared currency. The US dollar is already viewed by many as a world currency, so some would not see the point of a Amero dollar. Canadians would also be against it but might be able to be swayed by government and media. Mexicans might be the most willing to use a Amero and less loyal to their currency which has not performed well over the long term. If you visit Mexico they prefer the US green back already over the Peso. Most speculation around the Amero includes a crash of the US dollar in order to make Americans except the Amero.
We have already witnessed a pretty significant crash is the US dollar in 2007, so are Americans more willings to except a Amero Currency? Are Canadians less willing now that their dollar is about par? Cast your vote on my blog at www.ameroblog.blogspot.com. And view the current results. The poll will remain active through 2008 to see if there is any change in momentum.
